Study Descriptions

All survey questions within the GESIS Panel.dbd are part of studies, each identified by a unique study ID. Each study is accompanied by a study description, which can be found below. We categorize studies into two types: (1) Core Studies and (2) Submitted Studies. The following sections detail the differences between these two study types.

Core Studies

Core studies aim to cover a broad range of topics of general interest to the social sciences. Through repeated measurement, these studies form the longitudinal core of the GESIS Panel.dbd. The content of each core study was developed in collaboration with leading experts.

The following table lists the titles, study IDs (beginning with 'z'), surveying frequency, and fielded waves for all substantive core studies. Below the table, you will find the study descriptions for released core studies.

Additionally, there are studies that are part of every survey wave, namely Survey Administrative Variables (za), Survey Quality (zq) and Paradata (zp).

za: Survey Administrative Variables

zp: Survey Paradata

zq: Panel survey participation evaluation

zw: Web Tracking Data Collection Within the GESIS Panel.dbd

Submitted Studies

The GESIS Panel.dbd is open to researchers wishing to conduct their own studies. Studies are submitted by both internal and external researchers, who use the GESIS Panel.dbd for their own primary data collection. Study codes begin with 'aa' and are assigned chronologically.
